Sufyān ath-Thawrī on fame

قَالَ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ رَحِمَهُ اللّٰهُ: >السَّلاَمَةُ فِي أَنْ لاَ تُحِـبَّ أَنْ تُعْرَفَ<
Translation
Sufyān ath-Thawrī [d. 161H] (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Safety lies in not wanting to be known.”
