Shaykhul Islām ibn Taymiyyah on Ordering Good and Forbidding Evil

قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله: فَلَا بُد من هَذِه الثَّلَاثَة الْعلم والرفق وَالصَّبْر: الْعلم قبل الْأَمر وَالنَّهْي والرفق مَعَه وَالصَّبْر بعده

Shaykhul Islām ibn Taymiyyah (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said:

So these three are necessary: knowledge, kindness and patience: “Knowledge before commanding [good or forbidding evil], kindness while doing it, and patience after it.”
