‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar on Every Innovation Being Misguidance
'Abdullāh ibn 'Umar (may Allāh be pleased with them both) said: “Every bid'ah (religious innovation) is misguidance even if people think it is good.”
'Abdullāh ibn 'Umar (may Allāh be pleased with them both) said: “Every bid'ah (religious innovation) is misguidance even if people think it is good.”
Anas bin Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “You people do (bad) deeds (commit sins) which seem in your eyes as tiny (minute) than hair while we used to consider those (very deeds) during the life-time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) as destructive sins.”
'Abdullāh ibn 'Umar (may Allāh be pleased with them both) said: “In the evening do not expect [to live until] the morning, and in the morning do not expect [to live until] the evening. Take [advantage of] your health before times of sickness, and [take advantage of] your life before your death.”
'Aṭā said: I and 'Ubayd bin 'Umayr entered upon 'Ā'ishah (may Allāh be pleased with her) and she said to him: “(If you admonish the people) Lighten in your admonition for indeed the reminder is heavy.”
'Abdullāh ibn Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “You are in the passage of day and night, your life decreases [by every passing moment] but your deeds are all preserved and death shall come to you all of a sudden. So, whoever planted good is soon to expect the harvest of happiness, and whoever planted evil is soon to expect the harvest of regret.”
Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Where is the beauty and the handsome? Where are those who were delighted by their youth and good looks? Where are the kings who built cities and fenced it with walls? Where are the victorious in wars? They all perished and ended in the depths of dark graves! Hasten and hurry up [to do good deeds] but death is faster.”
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Indeed I seek forgiveness for seventy of my brothers in my sujūd (prostration); naming them by their names and their father's names.”
'Abdullāh ibn 'Abbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both) said: “Indeed, I love that I beautify myself for my wife just like I love that she beautifies herself for me.”
Shaykh al-'Uthaymīn (may Allāh have mercy upon him): “Some of the the salaf said: ‘I like to beautify myself for my wife just as I want that she beautifies herself for me.’ This can fall under the ḥadīth: ‘None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself.’” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī (13), Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim (45)]
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Woe one time to he who does know and acts! And woe seven times to he who knows and does not act upon his knowledge.”
'Alī bin 'Abī Ṭālib (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “The most difficult deeds to carry out are three: Giving the people their rights that are due upon you, remembering Allāh in all situations, and to help your brother with your wealth.”
