Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “A person does not attain taqwā until he becomes knowledgeable, and he will never be adorned by knowledge until he acts upon it.”
Commentary by Shaykh ‘Abdul-Mannān Rāsikh added.
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Goodness is not that your wealth and children increase, rather true goodness is that your forbearance (patience and wisdom) becomes great, your knowledge increases, and that you compete with people in the worship of Allāh – the Mighty and Majestic. If you do good, you praise Allāh - the Exalted; and if you fall short, you seek forgiveness from Allāh – the Mighty and Majestic.”
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Indeed I seek forgiveness for seventy of my brothers in my sujūd (prostration); naming them by their names and their father's names.”
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Woe one time to he who does know and acts! And woe seven times to he who knows and does not act upon his knowledge.”
Abū Dardā' (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Pray two rak'āt (units) of ṣalāh (prayer) in the darkness of the night for the darkness of the grave.”
