'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Indeed, no one is born a scholar. Rather, knowledge is gained by learning.”
'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “By Allāh, the one whom there is no (true) deity besides, there is nothing on earth more in need of a long imprisonment than the tongue.”
'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “You are in the passage of day and night, your life decreases [by every passing moment] but your deeds are all preserved and death shall come to you all of a sudden. So, whoever planted good is soon to expect the harvest of happiness, and whoever planted evil is soon to expect the harvest of regret.”
'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “A believer sees his sins as if he were sitting under a mountain which, he is afraid, may fall on him; whereas the wicked person considers his sins as flies passing over his nose and he just drives them away like this.”
'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “Get into the habit of (doing) good, for indeed (doing) good (eventually) becomes habitual.”
It is also recorded by Abī Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him) in Shu'ab al-Īmān
'Abdullāh bin Mas'ūd (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: “The people will not cease to be upon goodness so long as they take knowledge from their Scholars, their greater ones and their elders. So when they take knowledge from their young ones and their foolish ones, they are destroyed.”
