Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī Ḥadīth [7280] – Obedience leads to Paradise and vice-versa

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلاَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: >كُلُّ أُمَّتِي يَدْخُلُونَ الجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَبَى<، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ، وَمَنْ يَأْبَى؟ قَالَ: >مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي دَخَلَ الجَنَّةَ، وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ أَبَى<

Translation
Ḥadīth [7280]: It is narrated on the authority of Abū Hurayrah [d. 57H] (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “All my followers will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said: ‘O Allāh’s Messenger! Who will refuse?’ He said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me is the one who refuses (to enter it).”

Commentary
Commentary by Ḥāfiẓ Ṣalāḥuddīn Yūsuf (may Allāh have mercy upon him)
The word ummah here stands for the community which accepted the invitation of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him), that is to say, the people who on his call embraced Islām. Out of this community who follow him faithfully will go to Jannah.
