عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: >بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ< رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ

3 – It is narrated on the authority of Abī ‘Abdur-Raḥmān ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Umar bin al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allāh be pleased with them both) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) say:

“Islām has been built on five [pillars]: Testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allāh and that Muḥammad is His servant and Messenger, establishing the ṣalāh (prayer), paying the zakāh (obligatory charity), making the Ḥajj (pilgrimage) to the House [of Allāh, i.e., the Ka’bah], and fasting in Ramaḍān.” [Reported by Bukhārī and Muslim]
