Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī Ḥadīth [2059] – One who does not care from where he earns

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ المَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: >يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ، لاَ يُبَالِي المَرْءُ مَا أَخَذَ مِنْهُ، أَمِنَ الحَلاَلِ أَمْ مِنَ الحَرَامِ<

Translation
Ḥadīth [2059]: It is narrated on the authority of Abū Hurayrah [d. 57H] (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “A time will come when one will not care how one gains one’s money, legally or illegally.”

Commentary
Commentary by Shaykh Abū ‘Abdullāh Muḥammad Yusrī Ibrāhīm
❶ Warning from the trials of wealth.
❷ Dispraise of abandoning piety and being careful in earning (only permissible) wealth.
❸ The narration is from the signs of the prophethood [of Muḥammad (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)], and it contains prophecy about the changing of the condition (of people) in the end of days.
