‘Uthmān bin Ḥakīm on befriending the one who’s more religious
'Uthmān bin Ḥakīm al-Awdī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Befriend the one who is above you in religion and below you in worldly life.”

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “... It is recommended to walk a number of steps after eating at night even if it is merely a hundred steps, and he should not sleep right after eating as it causes great harm (to one's body) ...”
Ma'rūf al-Karkhī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “If Allāh intends evil for His servant he locks the door of action upon him and opens for him the door of argumentation.”
Al-Fuḍayl bin 'Iyāḍ (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “The best of deeds is that which is most hidden, safest from shayṭān, and furthest from showing-off.”
Ḥabīb Abū Muḥammad (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Do not sit in idleness, for indeed, death is seeking you.”
Sa’īd bin Jubayr (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Indeed, fear (of Allāh) is that you fear Allāh to such an extent that your fear becomes a barrier between you and your sin. That is true fear. And remembrance (of Allāh) is obedience to Him. So, whoever obeys Allāh has remembered Him, and whoever does not obey Him is not remembering Him, even if they frequently engage in glorifying (Him) and reciting the Qurān.”
Muḥammad bin Ka'b al-Quraẓī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “When Allāh the exalted intends good for a servant, he makes three qualities in him: Understanding of the religion, asceticism in this world, and insight into his (own) shortcomings”
Ḥasan [al-Baṣrī] (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Know that you will not love Allāh till you love being obedient to Him.”
Imām ibn al-Jawzī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “A woman is an accountable individual just as a man is. She is obliged to seek knowledge of her duties so that she may perform them properly.”
Imām al-Awzā'ī (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “Adhere to the āthār of the salaf, even if people reject you, and beware of the opinions of men, even if they beautify it in speech. Then indeed, when the matter becomes clear, you will find yourself upon the straight path.”
