حدثت عن يوسف بن موسى المروزي ثنا ابن خبيق قال سمعت إبراهيم البكاء يقول سمعت معروفا الكرخي يقول: >إذا أراد الله بعبد خيرا فتح الله عليه باب العمل وأغلق عنه باب الجدل، وإذا أراد بعبد شرا أغلق عليه باب العمل وفتح عليه باب الجدل<
Translation
Ma’rūf al-Karkhī [d. 200H] (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “If Allāh intends evil for His servant he locks the door of action upon him and opens for him the door of argumentation.”

Ibn al-Qayyim [d. 751H] (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “… It is recommended to walk a number of steps after eating at night even if it is merely a hundred steps, and he should not sleep right after eating as it causes great harm (to one’s body) …”

Al-Fuḍayl bin ‘Iyāḍ on the best of righteous deeds
Al-Fuḍayl bin ‘Iyāḍ [d. 187H] (may Allāh have mercy upon him) said: “The best of deeds is that which is most hidden, safest from shayṭān, and furthest from showing-off.”
