أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، حدثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الصَّفَّارُ الزَّاهِدُ إِمْلَاءً مِنْ أَصْلِ كِتَابِهِ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّلَمِيُّ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي النُّعْمَانِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، فرَفَعَ يَدَيه حِينَ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَحِينَ رَكَعَ، وَحِينَ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِينَ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَحِينَ رَكَعَ، وَحِينَ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ فَكَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، فَكَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ فَكَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ فَكَانَ يَرْفَعً يَدَيْهِ إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ. رُوَاتُهُ ثِقَاتٌ
Ḥadīth [2519]: Abū ‘Abdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ [d. 405H] informed us, Abū ‘Abdullāh Muḥammad bin ‘Abdullāh aṣ-Ṣaffār az-Zāhid [d. 339H] narrated to us dictating from his book, he said: Abū Ismā’īl Muḥammad bin Ismā’īl as-Sulamī [d. 280H] said:
I prayed behind Abū an-Nu’mān Muḥammad bin Faḍl [d. 223H/224H], he raised his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’ (bowing), so I asked him about that, so he replied:
→ I prayed behind Ḥammād bin Zayd [d. 179H] who raised his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’, so I asked him about that, so he replied:
→ I prayed behind Ayyūb as-Sakhtiyānī [d. 131H] and he used to raise his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’, so I asked him (about it) and he replied:
→ I saw ‘Aṭā’ bin Abī Rabāḥ [d. 114H/115H] raising his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’, so I asked him (about it) and he replied:
→ I prayed behind ‘Abdullāh bin az-Zubayr [d. 73H] and he used to raise his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’, so I asked him (about it) and ‘Abdullāh bin az-Zubayr he replied:
→ I prayed behind Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq [d. 13H] (may Allāh be pleased with him) (who) raised his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’ and Abū Bakr said:
→ I prayed behind the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) and he used to raise his hands when he started the prayer, when he bowed and when he raised his head from rukū’.
