حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَقِيقَةٌ، وَمَا بَلَغَ عَبْدٌ حَقِيقَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّ مَا أَصَابَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيُخْطِئَهُ، وَمَا أَخْطَأَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيُصِيبَهُ

Ḥadīth [27490]: It is narrated on the authority of Abū Dardā’ [d. 32H] (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Everything has a reality, and the servant will not reach the reality of faith until he knows that what afflicted him could never miss him, and that what missed him could never have afflicted him.”
