1. Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī

It is narrated on the authority of ibn 'Abbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Ḥijjah).” Then some companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: ‘Not even jihād?’ He replied: “Not even jihād, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allāh's sake) and does not return with any of those things (i.e., is martyred).”

It is narrated on the authority of Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger.”

It is narrated on the authority of Anas bin Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Facilitate things to people (concerning religious matters), and do not make it hard for them and give them good tidings and do not make them run away (from Islām).”

It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Amr (may Allāh be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Convey from me even an Āyah [of the Qurān]; relate traditions from Banī Isrā‘īl, and there is no restriction on that; but he who deliberately forges a lie against me let him have his abode in the Hell.”

It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullāh ibn 'Umar (may Allāh be pleased with them both) that he said: ‘Allāh's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) used to practice i'tikāf in the last ten days of the month of Ramaḍān.’

It is narrated on the authority of Anas bin Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) that he said: ‘We used to travel with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) and neither did the fasting persons criticize those who were not fasting, nor did those who were not fasting criticize the fasting ones.’

It is narrated on the authority of Anas bin Mālik (may Allāh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “Take saḥūr, for indeed there is a blessing in the saḥūr.”

It is narrated on the authority of Abī Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him) that Allāh's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “When the month of Ramaḍān starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”

It is narrated on the authority of Abī Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him) that Allāh's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, a huge fat man will come who will not weigh, the weight of the wing of a mosquito in Allāh's Sight.” and then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) added: ‘We shall not give them any weight on the Day of Resurrection’ (18: 105)

It is narrated on the authority of ibn 'Abbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both) that he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) saying: “If the son of Ādam (the human being) had two valleys of money, he would wish for a third, for nothing can fill the belly of Ādam's son except dust, and Allāh forgives him who repents to Him.”
